about

06 Shatter Scatter Pattern
The Shadow of the Past -- It is easy to become fixated on past loves, sometimes because they gave pleasure, sometimes because they gave pain. I am carrying the burden of what I cannot change, but wish I could change. Its weight drags me to a crawl as I wonder and replay and bargain and rage. Something dead I keep alive with my breath and my heart as I drain myself dry in protest of its loss. I am hurt; I will heal when I let go. The ogham fid is Muin for love, lies, and communication.

lyrics

SHATTER SCATTER PATTERN // I’ve got your back ‘cause there are times / it’s all you’ll let me see / we’re off the track we used to walk / pretending we were free / there isn’t one piece of what we broke / it’s all but smoke / and I can’t breathe deep enough / to get high on you now // if the essence of the thing that was / can last beyond the shatter / does it matter that it’s broken / or that all that’s left is scattered? / I don’t know, but now and then / I think it was, I think I’ve been / much more than pattern / more than pattern this time // I made a deal I wouldn’t write / and shut the river down / I cleared my head and filled it up / with both feet on the ground / there isn’t one piece of what we made / we tried to save / and I can’t dig deep enough / to understand you now / if the essence of the thing that was / can last beyond the shatter / does it matter that it’s broken / or that all that’s left is scattered? / I don’t know, but now and then / I think it was, I think I’ve been / much more than pattern / more than pattern this time / more than pattern / more than pattern this time //
